I had the great honour of photographing Ezekiel's home birth. I love birth. There is little more beautiful than capturing the first breath of a new born child. The raw emotion and family connection is palpable. Every birth is different and equally as beautiful. The excitement and joy of watching life give birth to life. Not many people have the pleasure of witnessing a miracle in this life, but birth is an everyday miracle! I am passionate about birth. I loved LOVED loved giving birth to each of my children. Experiencing birth from the outside is the next best thing and I never take it for granted! I am also very passionate about home birth! My Sawyer was born at home. One of the very best experiences of my life. Someday I will share her birth story and video with you all! I would like to think that home birth is making a comeback. Many people do not realize that in a normal, healthy pregnancy, having a baby at home is just as safe (if not safer) than having a baby in the hospital. We have wonderful, skilled, brilliant midwives in our community, who make the experience of birth extra special. Our midwives also allow us the option of choosing to birth at home. I am SO very thankful for our midwives and their passion and dedication to their clients.
Ezekiel's birth was so peaceful! His mommy was amazing and delivered him in the water. He was welcomed by so many who loved him right there in the bathroom! His big brother also was able to welcome him right away, which was so beautiful to witness. The bonding and connection of family was not interrupted at all. Eli went to bed that night as a big brother and he wasn't separated from his parents for one minute.

Birth is such a HUGE event in a family's life. We can all recall listening to our mothers, grandmothers and friends share their birth stories. We as moms LOVE to share our birth stories. There are TV shows and blogs devoted to that alone.
Birth is sacred. Birth is beautiful. Birth matters.
If you are currently pregnant and would like to have your birth photographed please contact me via Facebook or my website!
