The home birth of Layla Faith {BJ Kivell - Chatham Kent Ontario Birth Photographer}

I love birth! Let me just get that out there. There is something so incredibly miraculous about witnessing the birth of a new baby. The emotion, the incredible strength of the mother, the first breath of a new little person. There is beauty in birth. I became a birth doula a little over 7 years ago. I have had the pleasure of attending  many births in the last several years. I have to admit birth is my very favourite event to photograph. I count it a great honour to be invited in with the elect few that get to be present at the birth of a child. It is something that will never get old to me.

 Now...Home birth rocks! The atmosphere, getting to know the family, working with incredible midwives, being able to capture one of the MOST important events of a family's life. It is beyond beautiful. Sometimes I just sit back and take it all in and feel incredibly blessed to be allowed to witness such sacredness. Sometimes the emotion of it all leaves me awestruck. I usually leave full of adrenaline, joy, thankfulness and a complete LOVE for my job. It's a good feeling. 

 I want to thank all of the families who have invited me in to one of the most exciting and personal moments in their lives. I want you to know I hold all of your stories in my heart. You have all made me a better doula and a better photographer, and even more than that, helped to fulfil a great passion in my soul.
